I was searching the web lately for some keys on dealing with nervousness and sickness and found a GREAT site called, “A History with God Ministries”.
Now, before you get turned off by some “religious” site, I’m telling you, you need to check this out. Honestly, I don’t even know why it showed up in my search results, much more, why I EVEN clicked on it. I guess I was just curious. When you first get to the site, you’re greeted with a polished menu structure and LOTS of stuff to look at, including a scrolling banner at the top.
One of the banners that caught my eye was an interview with Frank and Christina Sasso, the ministry founders. After watching this interview, I felt guilty as to how much I enjoyed it, and yet I had a little problem with it. It just went against everything I ever heard. These two people spoke, with such ease, about God, that it didn’t seem “right”. I thought, “What makes them so special that they can talk about God and religion like that?”
As I poked around on the site even more, I clicked on a menu called “Prohetic Words & GODcasts”. (a clever name for their podcasts) I clicked the first GODcast on the list called “Flowing With The Spirit – 8/11/13” As I listened to this podcast, it became evident that Frank and Christina Sasso are comfortable talking about God because they seem to KNOW God! Listening to this particular GODcast, I also learned that God and religion couldn’t be, get ready for this, MORE OPPOSITE of each other! While people will always hurt others, whether it be in the name of religion or not, God will never be the source of that pain. Whenever a person hurts me, I have a very hard time ever wanting to interact with them again. Being hurt by a “religious” person, I imagine, would also take away the desire to want anything to do with their religion.
So, religion is man-made, it’s about what man does to get to God whereas Christianity is NOT a religion, it’s about God getting to man. In this GODcast, I love the way Christina Sasso simply puts it, “God loves you and religion is bad”. After hearing this, I was hooked. I think I’ve been looking for insight like this my whole life. I actually went out and bought a Bible! I also listened to a lot of the other GODcasts including one called, “1 Year in Ministry ANNIVERSARY SHOW – 11/25/12” which is located in the 2012 GODcasts archive folder.
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who initially had a problem with their teaching. In that episode, Frank and Christina Sasso tell their story and talk about how they have been kicked out of not only 1, but 2 churches! So enlightening, encouraging, and funny! You owe it to yourself to check this website out. You really do.
