Facebook Privacy Notice Rumor Hoax

Attention: Anyone who is posting a notice on Facebook in order to protect their copyright and privacy is wasting their time. Facebook Privacy Notice Rumor Hoax, yes it’s not true, it won’t work, it holds no weight.

The notice that begins with; For those of you who do not understand this posting, Facebook is now a publicly traded entity. Anyone can infringe on our right to privacy once you post on this site. It is recommended that you and other members post a similar notice to this or you may copy and paste this one. Protect yourself… the notice goes on to give codes and looks quite authentic.

Per Snopes.com the Origins:… The law just doesn’t work that way. Facebook users cannot retroactively negate any of the privacy or copyright terms they agreed to when they signed up for their accounts no can they unilaterally alter or contradict any new privacy or copyright terms instituted by Facebook simply by posting a contrary legal notice on their Facebook walls.

It’s amazing how rumors get started and people just follow and continue to spread them without bothering to check if they are true or not. Snopes.com will get to the bottom of many fairly quickly, just click on them.
